James Whalen to join a distinguished panel of judges discussing “Preserving Error at Sentencing”
James Whalen will be speaking on a panel at the 24th Annual Eastern District of Texas Bar Association Bench Bar Conference on October 14, 2021. James and fellow panelists Alan Dorhoffer, U.S. Sentencing Commission; Judge Jeremy Kernodle, USDC EDTX; Judge Michael Truncale, USDC EDTX; and Judge Gregg Costa, 5th Cir., US Court of Appeals will be speaking on “Preserving Error at Sentencing.”
James serves on the conference planning committee for the Eastern District of Texas Bar Association. One of the nation’s top annual bench bar conferences, the ED TX Bar Association Bench Bar Conference draws judges, lawyers, and others from across the country, and has a reputation of being the “go-to annual gathering” for judges and lawyers to discuss a broad range of leading-edge legal topics.
This year’s 3-day conference also features “An Evening at the Ball Park” – an outing to Texas Ranger Globe Life Stadium that includes dinner, tours, batting cages, and networking.
Established in 1857, the Eastern District Court is one of four federal judicial districts in Texas. Court for the District is held at Beaumont, Lufkin, Marshall, Plano, Sherman, Texarkana, and Tyler.
The Eastern District of Texas Bar Association (EDTX Bar Association) was founded in 1995 by a group of individuals dedicated to the rule of law through the preservation of trial by jury. The mission of the EDTX Bar Association is to facilitate the administration of justice in the Eastern District Court of Texas.
